01 — The Vision
Strength for the
Community, Outdoors
The YMCA outdoor training facility represents a bold commitment to accessible, high-performance fitness for every member of the community. Rather than confining strength training to indoor rooms, this installation brings the full workout experience into the open air — creating a dynamic training environment where athletes, families, and first-time gym-goers train side by side under the sun.
Opti-Fit designed this space around the principle that outdoor fitness should not mean compromising on equipment quality. Every station in this courtyard delivers commercial-grade capability: BeaverFit modular rigs anchor the space, FitBench storage units keep dumbbells and medicine balls organized and weather-protected, and dedicated boxing bays with heavy bags add combat-sports programming to the facility's offering.
The result is a YMCA that leads by example — a community fitness hub where the equipment matches the ambition of the people who use it, and where the outdoor setting itself becomes a motivating force for consistent training.

Modular Stations,
Complete Programming
Each zone in the YMCA courtyard is purpose-built for a specific training modality — from Olympic lifting and functional strength to boxing and HIIT. The layout supports simultaneous use by multiple groups without interference.

BeaverFit Modular Rigs
The centerpiece of the YMCA outdoor facility — twin BeaverFit towers with integrated pull-up bars, squat stations, and J-hooks. These rigs are engineered for permanent outdoor installation with powder-coated steel and corrosion-resistant hardware that withstands year-round exposure while supporting heavy Olympic lifting and calisthenics programming.
FitBench Storage Systems
Strategically placed FitBench units provide weather-resistant storage for dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls directly adjacent to the training rigs. This eliminates the need to carry equipment across the facility, keeping workouts efficient and the space organized — even during high-traffic community hours.
BOX Boxing & Combat Zone
Dedicated heavy bag stations with BOX-branded punching bags mounted on orange-steel stands create a focused combat-sports training area. Positioned along the perimeter wall, this zone allows for bag work, mitt drills, and conditioning circuits without disrupting strength training in the central rig area.

04 — Surfacing & Durability
Engineered for
Year-Round Use
The YMCA facility is designed to handle high-volume community traffic every day of the year. From the ground up, every surface and material choice prioritizes durability, safety, and performance.
Dual-Surface Flooring
The training floor combines two distinct surfaces: premium rubber tile under the BeaverFit rigs and strength zones — providing impact absorption and equipment stability — with artificial turf sprint lanes that support sled pushes, agility drills, and conditioning work. This dual-surface approach maximizes programming versatility while maintaining a clean, professional aesthetic.
Weather-Resistant Equipment
Every piece of equipment in this outdoor YMCA is specified for permanent exterior installation. BeaverFit rigs use marine-grade powder coating. FitBench units feature sealed enclosures that protect dumbbells and accessories from moisture and UV exposure. The BOX heavy bags use all-weather synthetic leather that maintains its integrity through rain, sun, and temperature swings.
High-Traffic Design
With YMCA membership numbers often reaching into the thousands, this facility is designed for concurrent use. The symmetrical rig layout creates two identical training zones that prevent bottlenecks. Open floor space between stations accommodates group classes, while the perimeter boxing zone keeps combat training separate from strength work.
Safety & Accessibility
The facility is designed to be inclusive. Wide pathways between stations accommodate wheelchair users and adaptive athletes. The rubber flooring provides consistent traction in wet conditions, and the open sight lines across the courtyard allow YMCA staff to monitor all activity zones from a single vantage point.
