PACIFIC MESA
EXPANSION
San Diego, CA — Phase-Two Addition Bringing Specialized Strength Equipment and Outdoor Cardio Stations to an Established Premium Fitness Facility
01 — The Vision
Building on Success,
Elevating the Standard
Following the overwhelming success of the original Pacific Mesa Fitness courtyard, this phase-two expansion was commissioned to broaden the facility's training capability. The mandate was clear: add specialized strength training equipment and outdoor cardio stations without disrupting the natural landscape integration that made phase one so distinctive.
The expansion introduces a dedicated strength training pod — featuring additional pull-up rigs, plate-loaded stations, and resistance anchor points — alongside a new outdoor cardio zone with weather-resistant conditioning equipment. Every addition was positioned to extend the existing workout circuit flow rather than create a separate, disconnected training area.
The result is a facility that has grown from a remarkable outdoor fitness courtyard into a comprehensive outdoor training campus — capable of supporting every training modality from bodyweight calisthenics through loaded strength work and cardio conditioning, all without stepping indoors.

Expanded Courtyard — New strength training pod and outdoor cardio zone extending the original Pacific Mesa layout
02 — Strength Addition
Specialized Strength,
Outdoor Engineered
The expansion's strength pod introduces loaded training capability to the outdoor environment — plate-loaded stations, heavy-duty pull-up complexes, and resistance anchor points engineered for permanent outdoor installation.

Strength Training Pod — Plate-loaded stations and heavy-duty outdoor rigs extending training capability
Plate-Loaded Stations
The expansion introduces commercial-grade plate-loaded strength stations to the outdoor environment — bringing authentic resistance training capability to the courtyard with equipment engineered to withstand permanent outdoor exposure in San Diego's coastal climate.
Advanced Pull-Up Complex
Additional multi-grip pull-up rigs with varying bar heights, angled grips, and neutral-grip options expand the bodyweight training vocabulary beyond what the original phase-one rigs provided — catering to advanced calisthenics athletes and general members alike.
Resistance Anchor System
A network of ground-anchored resistance points distributed across the strength pod enables band-resisted movements, suspension training, and sled-style drag work — creating a versatile outdoor strength environment without the need for traditional cable machines.
03 — Cardio Zone
Outdoor Cardio,
Purpose-Built for the Elements
A new outdoor cardio zone introduces weather-resistant conditioning equipment to the Pacific Mesa campus — filling the final gap in the facility's training capability and creating a complete outdoor fitness experience.
Weather-Resistant Conditioning Equipment
Outdoor-rated cardio stations — including self-powered air resistance units and stationary platforms — were selected specifically for their ability to perform in an unenclosed outdoor environment without the maintenance headaches of traditional indoor cardio machines. No electrical connections, no climate control requirements, no weather enclosures needed.
Integrated Circuit Flow
The cardio zone is positioned at the natural endpoint of the courtyard circuit — members move through bodyweight stations, into the strength pod, and finish at the cardio zone in a logical progression that mirrors indoor gym flow patterns while maintaining the open-air experience.
Complete Training Ecosystem
With the addition of cardio equipment, Pacific Mesa now supports every major training modality in an outdoor setting — calisthenics, loaded strength, functional training, and cardiovascular conditioning — making it one of the most complete outdoor fitness facilities in Southern California.
Expanded Turf Footprint
The expansion extended the Ecore artificial turf surfacing to cover the new cardio and strength zones — ensuring a consistent, impact-absorbing surface across the entire facility and maintaining the visual continuity that makes the Pacific Mesa courtyard feel like a single, unified training environment rather than a series of disconnected equipment drops.
